July 14 to July 20 was Non-Monogamy Week of Visibility
We didn’t forget, that would have been impossible because it’s on our calendar of Just Poly Holidays.
So where were we? And why weren’t we bringing you a bunch of posts about the history of this particular week of visibility?
Figuring out our identity
Some sites take a while to figure out their identities, and this site is in the process of solidifying ours.
JustPolyThings.com is a shopping site.
We want to be where you go to shop for everything from books about non-monogamy, to condoms, to everything else that consensually non-monogamous people need to continue living their absolute best consensually non-monogamous lives.
We’re not here to tell you “How to be poly or CNM”, we’re here to make sure you have everything you might need in the process.
Marketplace Still Loading
We’re almost to the testing phase of our Like Etsy, but Sexy marketplace features (so that smaller shops can list items and sell directly on our site), but while we finish that up we spent last week building relationships with new brands that have some truly fun and interesting products that we can’t wait to share with you.
Our founder Jessie, attended the Adult Novelty Manufactures Expo in Burbank, CA.
Poly problems require unique solutions
We talked to someone that makes adult toys that are super quiet so that you can use them without partners or family in other rooms hearing.
We discovered a brand that makes super sexy bondage lingerie that’s not just size inclusive but incredibly thoughtful in how their pieces are designed to work together with accessories like collars and handcuffs.
We learned about VR porn solutions for long distance relationships, and soooo many kinds of lube. Plus remote control vibes where one single remote can be in control of every vibe in the room.
As a human paying attention, it has been rather hard to get excited about writing about products this year. Seeing so many neat new things centering around love and relationships was actually quite refreshing, and we can’t wait to bring you some of this joy!
Just poly writers
But we weren’t just working on finding products, we have also been interviewing non-monogamous writers. We know that no one wants to read more AI slop. Our founders are rather outspoken about AI and how to use it ethically, so making sure that we are amplifying queer, polyamorous, and other non-mono voices is really important to us.
Age-verification drama
The other thing we studied last week was the UKs new age-verification law that goes into effect this week on July 25. This isn’t the only recent age-verification law that will affect our site, and figuring out how to stay online and compliant is no small task.
You might think age-verification laws sound like a good idea, but as experts in this area of tech legislation we can assure you that these laws have nothing to do with protecting children. The goal of these age-verification restrictions is to cause sexually explicit content, in particular homosexual content to disappear from the internet.
Let’s Gooooooo
It’s no secret that this site has faced some challenges getting off the ground, but last week our commitment to it was renewed.
We’re just getting started.
